The Max Planck Institute of Molecular Plant Physiology was built in the mid-nineties, and is located just outside Potsdam. The Institute holds world-leading research facilities and scientists in the fields of primary metabolism, and systems oriented approaches. Currently there are over 350 people working at the Institute, divided into three main departments, and several independent units.
Key competences and facilities
The Plant Cell Wall group focus on elucidating functions of the cellulose synthase complex & other cell wall related components, and to put these components in a cellular context.
Max Planck Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Wissenschaften e.V. recruited Praveen Krishnamoorthy; provided courses in network-training event 2, and co-organized and provided courses in the network-training event 4. Praveen Krishnamoorthy has access to all facilities at the MPI-MP Institute. In addition, he also has access to facilities and instruments at the neighboring MPI-KG (including ESEM and spectroscopic techniques, such as Raman and FTIR), and at the University of Potsdam.
Dr S. Persson (scientist in charge) has renowned expertise in cell wall biology, cell & molecular biology, and biochemistry. He has published more than 30 articles and book chapters on cell wall biology.
